Technical Details
The disruption primarily affected the BGP median signal, which measures the control plane visibility of internet routing prefixes. The event lasted for approximately 3.8 hours. A concurrent, more severe drop of 100% was observed in the Merit Network Telescope (merit-nt) backscatter signal, a common proxy for aggregate connectivity. The ping-slash24 signal, which measures ICMP reachability across IPv4 /24 network blocks, showed a 10% drop in reachability. A separate traffic forecast deviation signal, gtr.sarima, was also active but did not show a significant anomaly. The cause has not been publicly attributed.
Network connectivity was reported restored by the end of the observation period.
