Zimbabwe experienced a network disruption affecting internet routing visibility on Sunday morning. The event began at 07:30 UTC and lasted approximately one hour, concluding by 08:30 UTC. The primary impact was observed in the Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) control plane.

Technical Details

The disruption registered a severity score of 99. The affected bgp.median signal, which measures the stability of routing announcements for the country’s IP address prefixes, showed a 2% drop from its peak value during the observation period. Other network telemetry signals, including active probing for IPv4 reachability and backscatter traffic measurements, showed minor fluctuations but no significant concurrent degradation.

The cause has not been publicly attributed.

Connectivity was reported restored by the end of the observation window.
