A brief disruption affecting internet routing visibility was observed in Afghanistan on August 3, 2026. The event, which lasted approximately 15 minutes, was characterized by a degradation in the Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) control plane signal.

Technical Details

The disruption occurred between 21:50 and 22:05 UTC. The BGP signal, which measures the control plane visibility of internet routing prefixes, recorded a severity score of 16. Other network telemetry signals, including active probing for IPv4 reachability and traffic volume measurements, showed minimal deviation during the same observation window. The BGP signal’s drop magnitude was approximately 1% from its peak value observed in the period.

The cause has not been publicly attributed.
