Angola sustained a significant internet connectivity disruption lasting approximately 1.4 days, beginning on August 14 and concluding on August 16. The event, which recorded a severity score of 187,708, was most pronounced in the Merit Network Telescope (merit-nt) signal.

Technical Details

The disruption was observed from 14:00 UTC on August 14 to 00:30 UTC on August 16. The Merit Network Telescope signal, which serves as a proxy for aggregate connectivity by measuring backscatter traffic, showed a median value drop of 53% from its peak during the event. The gtr-norm signal, measuring deviation from an expected traffic baseline, recorded a 9% drop. Other key network signals, including Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) visibility and active probing reachability across IPv4 /24 prefixes, showed minimal to no deviation.

The cause has not been publicly attributed.

Connectivity was reported restored by the end of the observation period.
