Gambia experiences brief connectivity disruption

alert2blue

The Gambia experienced a short-lived but significant connectivity disruption on the evening of June 11, 2026. The event lasted approximately 90 minutes, beginning at 17:20 UTC and ending by 18:50 UTC. A key metric for network reachability recorded a severity score of 2,125 during the incident.

Technical Details

The primary signal affected was the ping-slash24 metric, which measures ICMP reachability across IPv4 network blocks. Its median value dropped by 29% from its peak during the observation window from 18:30 to 00:30 UTC. The Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) control plane, responsible for routing information, showed minimal change. Other auxiliary signals, including traffic volume forecasts and backscatter measurements, also indicated concurrent anomalies.

The cause has not been publicly attributed. Connectivity was reported restored by the end of the disruption period.
