Lebanon experiences brief connectivity disruption
Lebanon experienced a brief but significant internet connectivity disruption on Friday, June 20. The event lasted approximately one and a half hours, beginning around 12:20 UTC and concluding by 13:50 UTC. The primary technical impact was a severe drop in network reachability.
Technical Details
The disruption registered a severity score of 8,873. The most affected metric was the ping-slash24 signal, which measures ICMP reachability across IPv4 /24 network prefixes. This signal showed a 99% drop from its peak value during the event.
Other network signals showed varied impacts. The gtr.sarima signal, which tracks deviation from expected traffic baselines, recorded a 23% drop. The merit-nt signal, a proxy for aggregate connectivity, fell by 83%. The bgp signal, reflecting control plane visibility for network prefixes, remained largely stable with a negligible 0% change.
The cause has not been publicly attributed.
Connectivity was reported restored by the end of the observation period.
