Technical Details
The disruption registered a severity score of 1,854, primarily driven by a degradation in the Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) signal. The BGP signal, which measures the control plane visibility of a country’s internet prefixes, showed a 7% drop from its peak during the event. Concurrently, active probing of IPv4 address blocks showed a 41% reduction in reachability. Backscatter measurements, an aggregate proxy for connectivity, fell to zero during the peak of the disruption.
The cause has not been publicly attributed.
