Technical Details
The primary affected metric was the ping-slash24 signal, which measures ICMP reachability across IPv4 /24 network prefixes. This signal recorded a total severity score of 9,014 across three distinct disruption periods. The most severe period occurred between 14:00 and 19:30 UTC, accounting for a score of 6,740.
Other network signals showed varied impacts. The gtr-norm signal, a normalized measure of traffic flow, dropped by 39% from its peak. The merit-nt signal, a proxy for aggregate connectivity based on backscatter measurements, recorded a 58% drop. The Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) control plane, which manages routing announcements, remained stable throughout the event, showing no significant drop in visible prefixes.
