French Polynesia experienced a brief disruption to its internet routing infrastructure early Monday, July 21. The event, affecting the Border Gateway Protocol (BGP), lasted approximately one hour and ten minutes, starting around 03:20 UTC and concluding by 04:30 UTC.

Technical Details

The disruption registered a severity score of 86. The primary affected signal was BGP, which measures the control plane visibility and stability of network prefixes. A concurrent, less pronounced drop was observed in the ping-slash24 signal, which tracks ICMP reachability across IPv4 network blocks. The merit-nt signal, a proxy for aggregate connectivity derived from backscatter measurements, also showed a significant reduction during the event.

The cause has not been publicly attributed.

Connectivity was reported restored by the end of the observation window.
