The British Virgin Islands experienced a significant disruption to its internet control plane visibility from July 31 to August 3. The event, which lasted approximately 2.6 days, was characterized by a severe degradation in the BGP routing signal. The cause has not been publicly attributed.

The disruption began on July 31 at 09:15 UTC and concluded on August 3 at 00:30 UTC. The primary affected metric was the BGP (Border Gateway Protocol) control plane, which registers the visibility of network prefixes to the global internet. The event recorded a severity score of 7,541 based on this signal.

Concurrently, other connectivity indicators showed less severe impacts. The ping-slash24 signal, measuring ICMP reachability across IPv4 address blocks, showed an 8% drop from its peak. The ucsd-nt backscatter measurement, a proxy for aggregate connectivity, recorded a complete 100% drop from its peak during the observation period.
