Rwanda experienced a brief internet connectivity disruption on Friday, August 7, 2026. The event lasted approximately 45 minutes, beginning around 13:50 UTC and concluding by 14:35 UTC. The disruption was characterized by a degradation in both network reachability and routing stability.

Technical Details

The event registered a total severity score of 121,236. The primary affected metric was ICMP reachability across IPv4 /24 prefixes, which recorded a severity score of 1,494 and showed a 41% drop from its peak value. Concurrently, the Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) control plane signal, which measures routing advertisement visibility, showed a 5% drop from its peak and a severity score of 81. The cause has not been publicly attributed.

Connectivity was reported restored by the end of the observation period.
