The disruption lasted approximately 7.6 days, from 09:15 UTC on July 31 to 00:30 UTC on August 8. The primary technical indicator was a sustained drop in the BGP signal, which measures the visibility of network prefixes in the global routing table. The median BGP visibility remained at a constant low of 148 prefixes throughout the event. Other network health signals showed less severe deviations, with active probing for IPv4 reachability (ping-slash24) showing a 9% drop from its peak, and a backscatter measurement proxy (merit-nt) showing a 67% decline.
The cause has not been publicly attributed.
Connectivity was reported restored by the end of the observation period.
