Japan experienced a brief but sharp degradation in internet connectivity in the early hours of Tuesday, August 11. The disruption began at 03:05 UTC and lasted approximately one hour and twenty-five minutes, ending by 04:30 UTC.

The event registered a severity score of 7,280, with the primary impact observed on a network backscatter measurement signal. This signal, which serves as a proxy for aggregate connectivity, recorded an 86% drop from its peak value during the event. Other key network health indicators showed minimal deviation. Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) control-plane visibility remained stable, and active probing for ICMP reachability across IPv4 /24 prefixes showed only a 1% decline.
