The primary impact was measured on the ping-slash24 signal, which records ICMP reachability across the country’s IPv4 address space. This signal recorded a severity score of 1,414, with a peak drop in reachability of 21% from normal levels. The average number of reachable network blocks fell from over 7,100 to a low of 5,685 during the event.
Other network signals showed more muted effects. The Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) control plane, which governs routing announcements, remained stable with no significant drop observed. The merit-nt signal, a proxy for aggregate connectivity, recorded a 19% drop from its peak. Traffic volume, as measured by the gtr-norm signal, deviated from its expected baseline by approximately 7%.
