Armenia experienced a brief but notable disruption to its internet routing infrastructure on Wednesday morning. The event, which lasted approximately 15 minutes, was characterized by a degradation in the Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) signal, a key mechanism for routing traffic across the global internet.

Technical Details

The disruption occurred between 11:40 and 11:55 UTC on August 12, 2026. The BGP signal recorded a severity score of 18 during this period. BGP provides control plane visibility for internet prefixes, and its degradation can affect how traffic is routed between networks. Concurrently, other measurement signals showed minor deviations: the ping-slash24 signal, which measures ICMP reachability across IPv4 /24 prefixes, showed a 9% drop from its peak, while the gtr-norm signal, a forecast deviation from expected traffic baseline, dropped by 10%.

The cause has not been publicly attributed. Connectivity was reported restored following the brief event.
