Liechtenstein experienced a disruption in its internet control plane visibility on Wednesday, September 3, 2026. The event began at 06:15 UTC and lasted for approximately two hours and fifteen minutes, concluding by 08:30 UTC. The disruption was centered on the Border Gateway Protocol (BGP), which manages the routing of traffic between networks.

Technical Details

The BGP signal, which measures the number of network prefixes visible in the global routing table from within the country, recorded a severity score of 485. The median visible prefix count dropped from a typical average of 441 to a low of 430, representing a 4% reduction in routing visibility. The event was isolated to the BGP control plane; concurrent measurements of active network reachability and traffic volume did not show significant correlated degradation. The cause has not been publicly attributed.

Connectivity was reported restored by the end of the observation window.
