Venezuela experienced a two-hour disruption to its Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) control plane visibility on September 3. The event began at 22:30 UTC and concluded by 00:30 UTC on September 4, registering a severity score of 583.

Technical Details

The disruption was isolated to the BGP signal, which measures the stability of routing announcements for the country’s internet prefixes. The median BGP visibility count dropped by 6% from its peak during the event. Other key connectivity metrics, including active probing reachability and traffic volume forecasts, showed no significant deviations from their normal baselines.

The cause has not been publicly attributed.

Connectivity was reported restored by the end of the observation period.
