Tajikistan experienced a significant disruption to its internet connectivity on September 3, 2026, with the event centered on the network control plane. The disruption began at 21:30 UTC and lasted for approximately three hours, concluding at 00:30 UTC on September 4. A key signal measuring network routing visibility recorded a severity score of 244 during the event.

Technical Details

The primary affected signal was the Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) median, which measures the control plane visibility of network prefixes. The severity score for this signal peaked at 244. The disruption also impacted other network metrics. The ping-slash24 signal, which measures ICMP reachability across IPv4 /24 prefixes, showed a 16% drop from its peak. The gtr-norm signal, a forecast deviation from an expected traffic baseline, recorded a 61% drop. The merit-nt signal, a backscatter measurement that serves as an aggregate connectivity proxy, showed an 83% drop from its peak.

Reported Cause

The cause of the disruption has not been publicly attributed.

Connectivity was reported restored by the end of the observation period.
