Gambia experiences internet connectivity disruption
Gambia experienced a significant internet connectivity disruption on Thursday, June 11, 2026. The event, which lasted approximately 90 minutes, was characterized by a sharp degradation in network reachability. The disruption began at 17:20 UTC and concluded by 18:50 UTC.
Technical Details
The disruption registered a severity score of 2,125. The primary affected metric was the ping-slash24 signal, which measures ICMP reachability across the country’s core IPv4 address blocks. This signal recorded a 30% drop from its normal peak levels during the event.
Other network signals showed varying impacts. The gtr.sarima signal, which forecasts deviations from expected traffic baselines, recorded a 9% drop. The merit-nt signal, a proxy for aggregate connectivity based on backscatter measurements, showed a more severe 90% drop from its peak. The BGP control plane, responsible for routing visibility, remained stable with no significant drop observed.
The cause has not been publicly attributed.
Network conditions were reported as restored following the 90-minute disruption window.
