Tunisia experienced a significant internet connectivity disruption on Thursday, July 31, 2026. The degradation lasted approximately 70 minutes, beginning around 09:20 UTC and ending near 10:30 UTC. The event was characterized by a sharp drop in network reachability across the country.

Technical Details

The primary affected metric was the ping-slash24 signal, which measures ICMP reachability across IPv4 network prefixes. This signal recorded a severity score of 1,690, with a peak drop in reachability of 48%. Active probing data showed a decline from a maximum of 8,191 responsive prefixes to a minimum of 4,234 during the event.

Other network health indicators also showed deviations. The gtr-norm signal, a normalized measure of traffic flow, dropped by 42% from its peak. Similarly, the merit-nt signal, an aggregate connectivity proxy based on backscatter measurements, fell by 39%. The Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) control plane, which manages routing information, remained stable throughout the incident with no observed prefix withdrawal activity.

The cause has not been publicly attributed.

Connectivity was reported restored by the end of the observation period.
