Guam experienced a significant internet connectivity disruption lasting more than nine hours on July 5. The degradation began around 15:20 UTC and persisted until approximately 00:30 UTC on July 6, affecting network reachability measurements across the island.

Technical Details

The disruption registered a severity score of 11,085. The primary affected metric was the ping-slash24 signal, which measures ICMP reachability across IPv4 network prefixes. This signal showed a 47% drop from its peak value during the event.

Other network signals showed varied behavior. The gtr traffic signal recorded a 49% drop from its observed peak. The merit-nt signal, a proxy for aggregate connectivity, dropped to zero. The BGP control plane signal, which reflects routing advertisement visibility, remained stable throughout the period.

The cause has not been publicly attributed.

Connectivity was reported restored by the end of the observation window.
