alert2blue

Nauru experienced a brief but significant disruption to its internet routing infrastructure on Thursday. The event, affecting the Border Gateway Protocol (BGP), began at 02:50 UTC and lasted approximately 25 minutes, concluding by 03:15 UTC.

Technical Details

The disruption recorded a severity score of 217, with the primary impact observed on the BGP control plane. The BGP signal, which measures the visibility of a country’s network prefixes to the global routing system, showed a 9% drop from its peak during the event. Concurrently, active probing for IPv4 reachability across network blocks showed a 36% reduction from its peak. The cause has not been publicly attributed.

Connectivity was reported restored following the brief disruption window.
