The Federated States of Micronesia experienced a prolonged connectivity disruption beginning on July 16 and continuing through July 18. The event, which lasted approximately 1.4 days, was characterized by a significant degradation in the Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) control plane signal. The disruption was observed from 15:10 UTC on July 16 until 00:30 UTC on July 18.
Technical Details
The disruption registered a severity score of 2,565, primarily driven by anomalies in the BGP signal. The BGP signal, which measures the visibility of network routing announcements to the global internet, showed a sustained deviation. Concurrent measurements of ICMP reachability across IPv4 address blocks, known as the ping-slash24 signal, showed a 14% reduction from its peak reachability levels during the observation period. The cause has not been publicly attributed.
The disruption remained ongoing at last observation.
