British Virgin Islands experienced a significant, multi-day connectivity disruption beginning on July 14. The event lasted for approximately 3.4 days, with the most severe impacts recorded in the early hours of July 18 UTC. The disruption affected both traffic volume and network control plane visibility.

Technical Details

The overall severity score for the event was 134,083,282. The primary impact was observed on the gtr-sarima signal, which measures deviation from expected internet traffic baselines. This signal recorded a severity score of 248,302 and showed a traffic drop of up to 62% from its peak during the observation period.

Concurrently, the Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) signal, which reflects the visibility of network prefixes across the global internet’s control plane, was also affected. It recorded a severity score of 540, with a 6% drop in observed routes. Active probing for ICMP reachability across IPv4 /24 prefixes showed an 18% reduction in reachability. The cause has not been publicly attributed.

Connectivity was reported restored by the end of the observation window on July 18.
