Uganda experienced a significant and prolonged disruption to its Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) control plane visibility, beginning on July 15 and lasting over nine days. The disruption, which was observed ending around 00:30 UTC on July 25, registered a severity score of 186,007 based on the affected BGP signal.

Technical Details

The primary affected signal was BGP, which measures the control plane visibility of a country’s internet routing prefixes. The BGP signal showed a sustained deviation from its baseline for the entire 9.1-day period. Other network telemetry signals, including active probing for IPv4 reachability and backscatter measurements, showed less significant deviations during the same observation window. The cause has not been publicly attributed.

Connectivity was reported restored at the end of the observation period.
