Rwanda experienced a degradation in internet connectivity on Monday, August 10, 2026. The disruption began at approximately 13:30 UTC and lasted for about 90 minutes, ending by 15:00 UTC. The primary impact was observed in active network reachability measurements.

Technical Details

The event registered a severity score of 2,196. The ping-slash24 signal, which measures ICMP reachability across IPv4 network prefixes, showed a 27% drop from its peak value during the observation window. The gtr-norm signal, an indicator of traffic volume relative to a baseline, recorded a more significant 75% drop. The merit-nt signal, a proxy for aggregate connectivity based on backscatter measurements, also fell by 78%. The Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) control plane, responsible for routing announcements, remained stable throughout the event with no observed changes.

The cause has not been publicly attributed.

Connectivity was reported restored by the end of the observation period.
