Germany experienced a brief but sharp degradation in internet connectivity early Tuesday, affecting a key traffic measurement signal. The disruption occurred between 05:36 and 06:09 UTC on August 11, 2026, with a severity score of 2,576.

Technical Details

The primary affected signal was the Merit Network Telescope (merit-nt), a system that measures backscatter traffic as a proxy for overall internet connectivity. The signal recorded a drop of 76% from its peak value during the event. Other core internet health indicators, including Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) announcements and active ping reachability across IPv4 networks, showed no significant deviation during the same observation window from 02:30 to 08:30 UTC.

The cause has not been publicly attributed. Connectivity was reported restored shortly after 06:09 UTC.
