Burundi experienced a brief but significant connectivity disruption on August 19, centered on routing instability. The event lasted approximately one hour, beginning at 19:10 UTC and ending at 20:10 UTC.

Technical Details

The disruption registered a severity score of 157. The primary affected signal was the Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) median, which measures control plane visibility for internet prefixes. This signal showed a 3% drop from its peak during the event. Other network signals, including active probing for IPv4 reachability and backscatter measurements, also recorded concurrent but smaller reductions in activity.

The cause has not been publicly attributed.

Network conditions were reported as restored following the one-hour event.
