Cambodia experienced a brief but significant degradation in internet connectivity early on August 23. The disruption, which lasted approximately 40 minutes, was characterized by a sharp drop in network reachability across the country’s IPv4 address space.
Technical Details
The degradation began at 01:10 UTC and concluded by 01:50 UTC. The primary affected metric was the ping-slash24 signal, which measures ICMP reachability across IPv4 /24 network prefixes. This signal recorded a severity score of 1,488, with a measured drop in reachability of 48% from its peak during the observation window. The country’s Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) control plane, which advertises network routes, remained stable throughout the event. The cause has not been publicly attributed.
Connectivity was reported restored by the end of the observation period.
