Tunisia experienced a significant, multi-day degradation in internet connectivity beginning on August 24. The disruption, which lasted approximately 3.6 days, was characterized by a substantial drop in network reachability. Connectivity was observed returning to normal levels by 00:30 UTC on August 28.

Technical Details

The primary affected metric was the ping-slash24 signal, which measures ICMP reachability across IPv4 network prefixes. This signal recorded a severity score of 105,659, indicating a major impact on active probing results. The degradation period lasted from 10:40 UTC on August 24 until 00:30 UTC on August 28.

Other network signals showed varying impacts. The gtr signal, which measures traffic volume, saw a 24% drop from its peak. The merit-nt signal, a proxy for aggregate connectivity based on backscatter measurements, recorded a 22% decline. Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) control plane visibility and latency measurements remained stable throughout the event.

The cause has not been publicly attributed.

The disruption remained ongoing for nearly four days before restoration was observed.
