Tunisia experienced a significant internet connectivity disruption on August 29, lasting nearly five hours. The event began at 19:40 UTC and concluded by 00:30 UTC on August 30. The primary impact was observed in active network reachability measurements.

Technical Details

The disruption recorded a severity score of 5,874. The ping-slash24 signal, which measures ICMP reachability across IPv4 network prefixes, showed a clear degradation during the event window. This signal recorded a drop in its median value, indicating reduced reachability to sampled Tunisian networks.

Other network telemetry signals showed varied behavior. The gtr-norm signal, a forecast deviation from expected traffic baselines, registered a 39% drop from its peak. The merit-nt signal, an aggregate connectivity proxy based on backscatter measurements, fell by 25%. The Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) control plane, responsible for routing announcements, remained stable throughout the event, showing no significant change in visible prefixes.

The cause has not been publicly attributed. The disruption was resolved by the end of the observation period.
