Libya experienced a brief but significant degradation in internet connectivity on the evening of August 30, 2026. The disruption lasted approximately 40 minutes, centered around 22:00 UTC, and primarily affected active network reachability.

Technical Details

The event recorded a severity score of 826. The primary affected metric was the ping-slash24 signal, which measures ICMP reachability across IPv4 /24 network prefixes. This signal showed a drop of 28% from its peak value during the observation window.

Other network signals showed less pronounced deviations. The Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) control plane, which manages routing announcements, remained stable. Backscatter measurements, a proxy for aggregate connectivity, showed a more significant drop of 85% from peak. The cause has not been publicly attributed.

Connectivity was reported restored by 22:40 UTC.
