Connectivity was observed to have returned to normal levels by the early hours of September 2.

Technical Details

The disruption occurred between 18:40 UTC on September 1 and 00:30 UTC on September 2. The event registered a severity score of 6,864, primarily driven by a sharp decline in the ping-slash24 signal, which measures the reachability of active IPv4 network prefixes. This signal recorded a severity score of 5,041 during the main phase of the event.

Other network metrics showed varied impacts. The gtr-norm signal, which indicates deviation from expected traffic volumes, fell by 74% from its peak. The gtr and merit-nt signals, both proxies for aggregate traffic and connectivity, each recorded declines of approximately 26%. The Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) control plane, responsible for routing announcements, remained stable throughout the event, showing no significant change in the number of visible prefixes.

Reported Cause

The cause of the disruption has not been publicly attributed.

The connectivity disruption remained ongoing for nearly six hours before being reported as restored.
