Brunei Darussalam experienced a significant internet connectivity degradation on Tuesday, September 2, 2026. The disruption, which lasted approximately three hours, was characterized by a sharp drop in network reachability. The event recorded a severity score of 2,788, with the primary impact observed on active probing measurements.

Technical Details

The degradation occurred between 17:10 and 20:30 UTC. The ping-slash24 signal, which measures ICMP reachability across IPv4 /24 prefixes, recorded a severity score of 2,788. This signal showed a 27% drop from its peak value during the observation window.

The gtr-norm signal, a forecast deviation from an expected traffic baseline, recorded a 48% drop from its peak. The merit-nt signal, a proxy for aggregate connectivity based on backscatter measurements, showed a 92% drop from its peak. The Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) control plane signal, which measures routing visibility for prefixes, remained stable and showed no significant deviation.

Reported Cause

The cause of the disruption has not been publicly attributed.

Connectivity was reported restored by the end of the observation period.
