Belize Experiences Connectivity Disruption, ICMP Reachability Affected
Belize experienced a significant internet connectivity disruption on June 18, 2026, affecting core network reachability. The event lasted approximately two hours, with a severity score of 3,762 primarily impacting the ping-slash24 signal.
Technical Details
The disruption began at 06:20 UTC and concluded by 08:30 UTC. The primary affected metric, ping-slash24, which measures ICMP reachability across IPv4 /24 prefixes, recorded a severity score of 3,762 and showed a 32% drop from its peak value. The country’s traffic volume, measured by the gtr.sarima signal, deviated significantly from its expected baseline, falling 66% from its peak. The backscatter-based ucsd-nt signal, a proxy for aggregate connectivity, also registered a 50% drop. The BGP control plane, which signals network prefix visibility, remained stable throughout the event.
The cause has not been publicly attributed.
Connectivity was reported restored by the end of the observation window.
