Technical Details
The disruption recorded a severity score of 72. The primary affected signal was the Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) median, which measures the control plane visibility for network prefixes. This signal showed a 2% drop from its peak value during the event.
Other network telemetry signals also registered deviations. The Merit Network Telescope (merit-nt) backscatter measurement, an aggregate connectivity proxy, recorded an 81% drop from its peak. The normalized Google Traffic Report (gtr-norm) signal, which tracks deviation from an expected traffic baseline, showed a 79% drop from its peak.
Active probing for ICMP reachability across IPv4 /24 prefixes (ping-slash24) showed a more modest 6% decline, indicating the data plane impact was less severe than the control plane disruption.
