The event lasted over 12 hours, with the most severe impact recorded on the network’s control plane visibility. The disruption was observed from approximately 12:20 UTC on July 14 through 00:30 UTC on July 15.
Technical Details
The event recorded an overall severity score of 72,393,843. The Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) signal, which measures the control plane visibility of network prefixes, showed a 7% drop in advertised routes. Active probing for ICMP reachability across IPv4 /24 prefixes recorded a 53% drop in reachable networks. Backscatter measurements, a proxy for aggregate network traffic, fell by 100% during the event.
The cause has not been publicly attributed. The disruption remained ongoing at the time of last observation.
