Congo experiences brief connectivity degradation

alert2blue

Congo experienced a brief degradation in internet connectivity early Saturday, May 31, lasting approximately two hours. The disruption was most pronounced in IPv4 network reachability, with a severity score of 4,045 recorded between 06:40 and 08:30 UTC.

Technical Details

The primary affected signal measured ICMP reachability across IPv4 /24 prefixes, which showed a 44% drop from its peak. The Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) control plane, which governs routing visibility, remained stable throughout the event. A separate traffic forecast model recorded a 60% deviation from its expected baseline.

The cause has not been publicly attributed. Connectivity was reported restored by the end of the observation window.
