Dominica Experienced Internet Connectivity Degradation
Dominica experienced a significant internet connectivity degradation beginning late on June 21, 2026. The disruption lasted approximately three and a half hours, from 21:00 UTC until 00:30 UTC on June 22. The event registered a severity score of 13,186, primarily driven by a sharp drop in active network reachability.
Technical Details
The degradation was most pronounced in the ping-slash24 signal, which measures ICMP reachability across IPv4 /24 network prefixes. This signal recorded a 64% drop from its peak, with an average of only 36.5 measurement points during the event. The Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) control plane, which advertises network routes, also showed a 21% reduction in visible prefixes. Backscatter measurements from the ucsd-nt signal, a proxy for aggregate connectivity, fell to zero during the disruption.
The cause has not been publicly attributed.
Connectivity was reported restored by 00:30 UTC on June 22.
