The primary affected metric was the BGP (Border Gateway Protocol) signal, which recorded a severity score of 62. BGP is the protocol that manages how data packets are routed between autonomous systems on the internet; a disruption can affect the global visibility of a country’s IP address prefixes. During the event, the number of visible BGP routes dropped by 3% from its peak. Concurrently, active probing measurements for IPv4 network reachability showed a 21% drop, while a separate backscatter measurement signal indicated a more significant 73% decline in observed traffic.
