Nauru experienced a brief but significant internet connectivity disruption on the evening of July 18, 2026. The event, which lasted approximately 20 minutes, primarily affected the network’s control plane visibility. The disruption registered a severity score of 174.

Technical Details

The disruption occurred between 22:40 and 23:00 UTC. The primary affected signal was the Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) median, which measures the control plane visibility for network prefixes. This signal recorded a drop of 9% from its peak value during the observation window.

Other network health indicators also showed deviations. The ping-slash24 signal, which measures ICMP reachability across IPv4 /24 prefixes, showed a 21% drop from its peak. The gtr-norm signal, a forecast deviation from expected traffic baselines, recorded a 50% drop from its peak.

The cause has not been publicly attributed.

Connectivity was reported restored by 23:00 UTC.
