Syria’s internet control plane experienced a significant disruption beginning on July 26, 2026, lasting for more than 16 hours. The event, which primarily affected the Border Gateway Protocol (BGP), recorded a severity score of 1,770. Connectivity was observed to be restored by 00:30 UTC on July 27.

Technical Details

The disruption began at approximately 08:10 UTC on July 26. The BGP signal, which measures the visibility of network routing prefixes in the global control plane, was the primary metric affected. The event lasted for a duration of 16.3 hours. Other network telemetry signals, including active probing reachability (ping-slash24) and traffic volume (gtr-norm), showed minor deviations but were not the primary indicators of the event.

The cause has not been publicly attributed.

Network routing was reported as restored by the end of the observation period.
