The event began at approximately 19:45 UTC and lasted for nearly five hours, ending around 00:30 UTC on August 7. The primary impact was observed in the Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) signal, which governs the global routing of internet traffic.
Technical Details
The disruption registered a severity score of 1,746. The BGP signal, which measures the visibility of network prefixes in the global routing table, saw a 6% drop from its peak activity level during the event. Concurrently, other measurement signals showed varying degrees of impact. The Merit Network Telescope (merit-nt) backscatter measurement, a proxy for overall network activity, recorded a 48% drop from its peak. Active probing for IPv4 reachability (ping-slash24) showed a 9% reduction in reachable networks.
The cause has not been publicly attributed.
Connectivity was reported restored by the end of the observation window.
