Belize experienced a significant, prolonged degradation in internet connectivity beginning June 18, with the disruption lasting nearly 13 days. The event, which concluded around 00:30 UTC on July 1, was characterized by a severe drop in network reachability, registering a peak severity score of 527,677.

The primary affected signal was ping-slash24, which measures ICMP reachability across active IPv4 /24 network prefixes. The severity score for this signal peaked at 527,677 over the observation period. The Merit Network Telescope (merit-nt) signal, a proxy for aggregate connectivity based on backscatter measurements, showed a 78% drop from its peak value. The gtr-norm signal, which tracks deviations from expected traffic baselines, recorded a 25% decline. Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) control plane visibility for prefixes remained stable throughout the event.
The cause has not been publicly attributed. Connectivity was reported restored by the end of the observation window.
