Kosovo Experiences Brief BGP Control Plane Disruption
Kosovo experienced a brief disruption to its internet control plane visibility on Thursday morning, lasting just under an hour. The event, which began at 07:35 UTC and concluded by 08:30 UTC, was characterized by a degradation in Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) activity.
Technical Details
The disruption registered a severity score of 101. The affected signal, bgp.median, measures the visibility of network prefixes in the global routing table, reflecting the stability of the internet’s control plane. During the event, the signal showed a 2% drop from its peak value. Other key connectivity metrics, including active probing for reachability (ping-slash24) and backscatter traffic measurements (merit-nt), remained operational with no significant correlated degradation reported.
The cause has not been publicly attributed.
Connectivity was reported restored by the end of the observation period.
