Côte d’Ivoire experienced a significant internet connectivity disruption lasting five days, beginning on August 4. The event impacted both data plane reachability and network control plane visibility. The degradation was observed from 01:10 UTC on August 4 until 00:30 UTC on August 9.

Technical Details

The overall severity score for the event was 34,135,196,993. The ping-slash24 signal, which measures ICMP reachability across IPv4 /24 prefixes, recorded a severity score of 300,939. The bgp signal, which reflects control plane visibility for network prefixes, recorded a severity score of 113,429. Both signals showed degradation for the full five-day period.

Other measurement signals also recorded deviations. The gtr-norm signal, a normalized traffic baseline, showed a 69% drop from its peak value. The merit-nt signal, an aggregate connectivity proxy based on backscatter measurements, showed a 49% drop from its peak.
