Tunisia experienced a significant internet connectivity disruption lasting more than a day and a half. The degradation began on August 24 and persisted through the early hours of August 26, with a severity score of 46,574 recorded for the primary affected metric. The disruption impacted the reachability of a large portion of the country’s IPv4 address space.

Technical Details

The event was characterized by a sharp drop in the ping-slash24 signal, which measures ICMP reachability across IPv4 /24 network prefixes. The signal recorded a severity score of 46,574 during the event period from August 24 at 10:40 UTC to August 26 at 00:30 UTC. The gtr-norm signal, which tracks deviations from expected traffic baselines, showed an 11% drop from its peak. The merit-nt signal, a proxy for aggregate connectivity, also registered an 18% decline. The BGP control plane signal, which monitors routing advertisement visibility, remained stable throughout the event.

The cause has not been publicly attributed.

Connectivity was reported restored by the end of the observation period.
