Tajikistan experienced a disruption to its Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) routing infrastructure on Friday, August 28, 2026. The event, which registered a severity score of 92, occurred in two phases between 10:40 and 12:30 UTC, lasting approximately 1.8 hours.

Technical Details

The disruption was isolated to the BGP control plane, which governs the exchange of routing information between networks. The bgp.median signal, a measure of routing visibility, recorded a severity score of 92 across two distinct periods. The first period, from 10:40 to 11:10 UTC, scored 32, while a second, more significant period from 11:35 to 12:30 UTC scored 60.

Other network signals showed less pronounced deviations. The ping-slash24 signal, measuring ICMP reachability across IPv4 /24 prefixes, recorded a 9% drop from its peak. The gtr-norm signal, a normalized traffic baseline, saw a 16% decline. The merit-nt signal, a proxy for aggregate connectivity, registered a 48% drop from its peak value.

The cause has not been publicly attributed.

Network conditions were reported as restored by the end of the observation window.
