Malaysia experienced a connectivity disruption on Thursday, August 28, 2026, lasting approximately one and a half hours. The event was recorded between 06:13 and 07:48 UTC, with a severity score of 8,241. The disruption was most pronounced in a key network backscatter measurement.

Technical Details

The primary affected signal was a backscatter measurement, which serves as a proxy for aggregate network connectivity. This signal recorded a drop of 88% from its peak value during the event. Other network health indicators showed less significant deviations. The Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) control plane, which manages routing information, remained stable throughout the period. Active probing for IPv4 reachability showed a 13% decline from its peak.

The cause has not been publicly attributed. Connectivity was reported restored by the end of the observation window.
