Tunisia experienced a significant connectivity degradation beginning on August 28, lasting for over 12 hours. The disruption, which started at 12:10 UTC and ended at 00:30 UTC on August 29, primarily affected network reachability. The event registered a severity score of 15,021.

Technical Details

The primary affected signal was ping-slash24, which measures ICMP reachability across IPv4 /24 prefixes. This signal recorded the 15,021 severity score over the 12.3-hour event period.

Other monitored signals showed varying impacts. The gtr signal, which measures traffic volume, recorded a drop of 27% from its peak. The gtr-norm signal, a normalized traffic metric, showed a 10% drop. The merit-nt signal, a backscatter measurement used as a connectivity proxy, recorded a 16% drop. The bgp control plane signal, which measures routing advertisement visibility, remained stable with no observable drop.

Reported Cause

The cause of the disruption has not been publicly attributed.

Connectivity was reported restored by 00:30 UTC on August 29.
